Camera Cleanout

So, today I finally had my camera USB, my camera, and my computer together for a playdate and I was so surprised at some of the things I found! Below are some memories from the past 6 or 7 months.

JULY 2009

The last week of July we had the Halestorm Family Reunion in Pocatello, Idaho. We spent one day having a picnic and at a water park. My cousin Emily was had her 3 little girls there while her husband Nate had to work. Since she had her hands full, I took over little Emma. Everywhere we went she wanted to immediately try something different and it had to be what the big kids were doing. She isn't afraid of a challenge, that's for sure.

We spent one afternoon driving out to Menan, the small town where my Grandma was raised and where both grandparents are buried. It was pouring rain, which shortened our visit, but we were able to clean off their headstone and place flowers in the vases (my Grandpa always had such an amazing garden so it is only fitting to leave some flowers.)

SEPTEMBER 2009

One month before S. and I got married I stopped teaching to prepare for my move to Provo. It was 3 weeks earlier than planned so it was really out of the blue for alot of people. My last day 4 former students came to visit me, and they were four of my favorites. Can I say that? The geography wall was my trademark so they insisted we take pictures by it before I left. Leaving my teaching job was one of the most bittersweet experiences of my life. I am hoping to get back to it in the fall. We'll see.

DECEMBER 2009

S. and I went up to SLC to go to Temple Square with our good friends R. and M. We took to train up from Sandy and enjoyed the lights. We spent more time on the train than we did walking around but we still had a great time.

JANUARY 2010

The firm that S. has been hired to work for in the summer takes all the new hires/interns out for some activity once a month. For January we went to Color Me Mine (likely my new favorite place) and were able to paint whatever we wanted and then have them glazed for free! S. and I had a great time. I found it relaxing and rather theraputic. We even made a new doggie bowl for his parents' mini Yorkie, Sweetie, whom S. has renamed Wiggles since she does not sit still. Ever. We were quite proud. I can't wait to go back.

There you have it. For now.

The Video

We just got our wedding video! I wish that I could post the whole thing, but that would be very long (it is about 20 minutes). Our amazing videographer, Nathan Pickett, just posted this highlight on his blog. He was great to work with and he captured how I was feeling on that day so well...very giddy. I highly recommend him to anyone getting married. Hope you like it!

Wait for iiiiit!

I am absolutely ecstatic that Psych is back tonight! For those of you who have never watched it, start now. My husband got me into it over the summer while we were dating. Black Friday we bought 2 of the seasons and watched every episode before going home for Christmas. Then we got the third season for Christmas and watched the whole thing in less than a week. It takes a little while to learn the characters but it is totally worth it. It is hilarious and clean! The kind of show you can watch with your parents and not be embarrassed to say that you love it. USA, Wednesday, 10 pm. Be there.

So, I have spent the day at my Dad's office helping out and my cousin Jason, who is my Dad's partner, showed me this. Don't be deceived...I actually worked really hard today! (and got a bunch of free food). Enjoy. Only two words describe what you are about to see. Veryhardtounderstandwhattheyaresaying and Brilliant.

Life Lessons

I was going through my "Random Stuff" documents file and came across this.

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ''In five years, will this matter?"

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it willchange.

32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative – dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

42. The best is yet to come.

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield.

45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

Wedding Photos

I have some friends that weren't able to come out for the wedding and they have requested pictures. (Here you go Clays!). So without further adu, I present my wedding day, plus two preceding photo shoots.

The first is a shot we did in Provo with the amazing Rebekah Westover. She shot my sister's wedding and was days from giving birth so we shot a few weeks before the wedding. So glad I got to work with her.

Second, during the shoot with Rebekah, David Perry came to shoot video as well.

My cousins Nathan and Emily are photographers up in Idaho Falls, and I was so excited to see them in action. Two days before the wedding they took us down to the strip to get some great urban shots. It was fun to see the tourist response even though people getting married in Vegas is nothing new.

The wedding day was also shot by Nathan and Emily. It was an amazing, whirlwind day. My roommate Melinda did my hair and makeup, my dad performed the ceremony, and so many friends and family traveled from all over the country to be there with us. I am so lucky to be married to an amazing man. I'm not sure what I did in my life to be so blessed.
