JULY 2009
The last week of July we had the Halestorm Family Reunion in Pocatello, Idaho. We spent one day having a picnic and at a water park. My cousin Emily was had her 3 little girls there while her husband Nate had to work. Since she had her hands full, I took over little Emma. Everywhere we went she wanted to immediately try something different and it had to be what the big kids were doing. She isn't afraid of a challenge, that's for sure.
We spent one afternoon driving out to Menan, the small town where my Grandma was raised and where both grandparents are buried. It was pouring rain, which shortened our visit, but we were able to clean off their headstone and place flowers in the vases (my Grandpa always had such an amazing garden so it is only fitting to leave some flowers.)
SEPTEMBER 2009
One month before S. and I got married I stopped teaching to prepare for my move to Provo. It was 3 weeks earlier than planned so it was really out of the blue for alot of people. My last day 4 former students came to visit me, and they were four of my favorites. Can I say that? The geography wall was my trademark so they insisted we take pictures by it before I left. Leaving my teaching job was one of the most bittersweet experiences of my life. I am hoping to get back to it in the fall. We'll see.
DECEMBER 2009
S. and I went up to SLC to go to Temple Square with our good friends R. and M. We took to train up from Sandy and enjoyed the lights. We spent more time on the train than we did walking around but we still had a great time.
JANUARY 2010
The firm that S. has been hired to work for in the summer takes all the new hires/interns out for some activity once a month. For January we went to Color Me Mine (likely my new favorite place) and were able to paint whatever we wanted and then have them glazed for free! S. and I had a great time. I found it relaxing and rather theraputic. We even made a new doggie bowl for his parents' mini Yorkie, Sweetie, whom S. has renamed Wiggles since she does not sit still. Ever. We were quite proud. I can't wait to go back.
There you have it. For now.
